My desire as a poet has always been to move and surprise, delight and provoke; through the beauty of words, suggest an undefined and wordless truth and pose personal love as a metaphor for a universal love. I see my poetry as a distillation of experiences of clarity, moments of luminescence — exquisite gifts from a deep internal silence.
Having studied traditional canons of poetry, I reveled in the wisdom and vision I found there, but especially the music that inspired my own commitment to the exotic landscape and cadence of words singing on a page. My recent foray into the world of songwriting has been a joyful extension of my life as a poet. My ardent wish is to spread this joy freely through my songs to all who care to listen.
A professional writer, I worked for several major corporations in New York, New England, and California; I taught courses in poetry, writing, and literature in colleges and universities throughout New York. I continue to work as a writer and songwriter in Imagesong, the business I established with my partner to promote my songs and poems.
I currently live in Northern California.
